A statue of the Greek god Apollo that was stolen 16 years ago has been returned to the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece.
The artifact and nine other items were reportedly stolen from a museum in Crete 16 years ago, The Athens News Agency reported Thursday.
The statue was found with a Swiss art dealer, who agreed to return the statue under an agreement with the Swiss government.
The statue was discovered in the 19th century by Italian archaeologist Federico Halbherr and is believed to be a first century replica of a statue that was either created by ancient sculptor Praxiteles or one of his students.
Greek Culture Minister George Voulgarakis said he was ecstatic over the return of the artifact.
